Mail contacts problem
My groups have disappeared in Contacts. The individual cards are still there. I've tried retrieving from the Time Machine, but cannot find Contacts there. Suggestions?

Thanks. Been there; tried that. Tried to hide groups, then show groups... nothing. Next step?
If your contacts are synced with iCloud, maybe have a quick look at www.icloud.com and/or one of your other Apple devices (if you have any others) to see if the groups are visible there. There is also a way to restore contacts using the Settings app-thing on iCloud.com if it comes to that. Before restoring anything or messing with a large collection of contacts, I'd export what you have now just in case, and just keep the resulting file on your desktop until this has been solved. My Mac isn't in front of me just now but I believe it should be File > Export or something to that effect.
OK, got them in iCloud, but can't figure out how to export them in a useable format. Only export option is as a PDF.
